Holiday Accommodation

Mattress Cleaning is Essential for Allergy Sufferers
When you are planning a long-awaited holiday, no matter where, you must plan very carefully.

Once you know where to spend your dream time, choose your accommodation with great attention to detail. Look up web sites like tripadvisor.com.au for customer feedback. This is worth a bundle because you don't want bad accommodation to spoil an otherwise well planned holiday. Remember, some people are knit pickers and will never be pleased so read enough comments to get a big picture of locations.

There is one aspect of hotel accommodation I want to address. Allergy Friendliness. How allergy friendly is your choice of accommodation? How much care does that hotel take to ensure they are upholding their duty of care responsibilities?

Sure, they vacuum the carpets and mop the floors. Great, they place that mandatory "For Your Protection" piece of paper across the toilet seat. That's reassuring to think we are protected by a narrow strip of paper advertising a toilet cleaner!

Is the hotel offering a written guarantee that they have their mattresses deep cleaned, sanitised and deodorised at least every 12 months? Given that you book accommodation primarily to use the bed for sleeping, you could be surprised that most hotels don't have their beds professionally serviced to remove potent allergens from dust mites etc.

It might be comfortable, but is it clean? Is it infested with dust mite faeces, dead human skin, human hair, bodily fluid residue or mould? How about bacteria or viruses?

Take this advise, ask for a sleep healthy certificate when you book for your own peace of mind.

For more information go to our dust mite page and our hotel info page.
